Gatlinburg is a prime spot for events and attractions happening in the Spring season. It’s a great time to visit Gatlinburg if you want to experience some great events that involve live music, home-grown produce, and some amazing children-friendly activities.

Springtime in Gatlinburg gets off to a great start with the Smoky Mountain Springfest, which starts in March and ends in the second week of June. At the Smoky Mountain Springfest, you will witness the streets of Gatlinburg being transformed into an array of beautiful plant and flower displays that include everything from pansies, tulips, daffodils, bougainvilleas, scaveolas, wave petunias and Mandevilles. The Springfest is also known for its great selection of live music and entertainment which line the sidewalks during the event.

If great eats, home-grown vegetables, and fresh fruits interest you, then the Gatlinburg Farmer’s Market is a weekly event you can’t afford to miss. The Gatlinburg Farmer’s Market is open on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 11:30 am during the spring, summer and fall months. Some things you will find at the market include squash, zucchini, lettuce, blackberries, cabbage, tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, corn, peppers, tomatillos, garlic, mushrooms, apples, herbs and much more. The selection doesn’t stop with produce though. The Gatlinburg Farmer’s Market also features a great selection of potted plants that have been locally grown. Don’t forget that the Farmer’s Market also includes some great tunes and entertainment from talented Gatlinburg locals. You will get to enjoy great live music, children’s activities, and plenty more at the Gatlinburg Farmer’s Market!

GFA Fit for Duty 5K Run/Walk

The event will be starting at the American Legion Hall and will begin at 9 am. The Gatlinburg Firefighters Association will be hosting the event and will feature multiple categories, including the Firefighter Challenge and numerous age divisions for both male and female athletes. Trophies and medals will be awarded accordingly. The event will also feature a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the Firefighters Association to promote cardiac health.

Mountain Man Memorial March

The Mountain Man Memorial March is a 26 mile march in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. The event will take place on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 to pay tribute to those who fight for our freedom. The event pays tribute to 1st Lt. Frank Walkup, a University of Tennessee alumnus who was killed in the line of duty in 2007 in Iraq.

Gatlinburg Gateway Triathlon

Gatlinburg Gateway Triathlon

Gatlinburg will host its fourth annual triathlon at the Community Center on May 15. The event will begin at 8:15 am and is open to anyone 15 years of age and older. You must be capable of swimming a one-half mile, biking twenty kilometers, and running five kilometers consecutively. Awards will be given in multiple age categories for men and women. Pre-registration is required.
